Is The Villages growing again? Developer buys 900 acres in Mascotte for $7 million | Daily Commercial

MASCOTTTE – The Villages has purchased 900 acres here for $7 million, according to Lake County public records.

The deed, recorded with the court clerk on March 14, lists the buyer as Buffalo Hide and Cattle Co., a real estate arm of the mega retirement community, and the seller as Maury L. Carter Services Corp. The company is trustee for Carter-Lake 918 Highway 333 Land Trust.

Daryl Carter with Carter Services, who is listed on property records as the trustee, said he has been asked by the buyer not to comment on its plans, or if it was even related to The Villages.

Tavistock may have some control over what happens next with Disney’s Lake Nona property | Orlando Business Journal

The Walt Disney Co.’s (NYSE: DIS) decision to abandon plans for its Lake Nona campus has spurred questions about what will happen next — especially with the 60 vacant acres on which the project was supposed to rise.

The southeast Orlando land is especially significant due to its role within Tavistock Development Co. LLC’s master-planned community, given its proximity to the popular Lake Nona Town Center and the 650-acre Medical City.

That said, veteran Orlando land broker Daryl Carter of Maury L. Carter & Associates told OBJ he would not be surprised if such deals existed outside the purview of public records, given the level of sophistication of the parties involved — and Tavistock’s reputation for carefully curating Lake Nona

“Tavistock is not known to be an active seller of its holdings. It is a transformative, multigenerational developer.”
