“Orlando timeshare executive Jim Gissy, who is known in Marion County for his previous interest in developing a resort on the Rainbow River in Dunnellon, has purchased over 1,200 acres in the southwest part of the county.

Purchased under a new company named Gissy Warm Springs Ranch LLC, which Gissy formed in November, the land is northwest of the Walmart and Publix shopping centers in Dunnellon, west of U.S. 41, and is largely undeveloped.

The majority of the land, nearly 800 acres, is currently classified for Planned Unit
Development with the county, which allows for “unique individually planned residential,
commercial, industrial, and mixed use developments,” according to the county’s Land
Development Code.”
