From blockbuster sales to backroom deals, real estate stories dominated news in 2024 | GrowthSpotter

Orlando’s red-hot real estate market cruised into overdrive for much of 2024 as developers turned out thousands of new homes and apartments, hotel rooms and new retail space.

Developers spent over $440 million this year on land just in the Wellness Way area, making it the most desirable acreage in Central Florida. Notable deals included the $165 million sale of the Arnold Groves and Roper property, totaling 2,321 acres, to GT USA in late September.

“It’s a smokin’ piece of real estate,” Daryl Carter told GrowthSpotter when he listed the Arnold property in late 2023. GT USA won the global bidding war for the property, which is just minutes from Disney World.  The company will combine them into a single master-planned community called Panther Run.

Seminole County agrees to buy horse farm, may build soccer fields | Orlando Sentinel

Seminole County commissioners have agreed to buy a horse farm of nearly 45 acres adjacent to Sylvan Lake Park to protect the land from development, with the aim of adding more athletic fields to a popular sports complex next door.

“The opportunity to purchase the property is now. It’s either going to be sold to us or sold to development, one of the two,” said Commissioner Andria Herr, after joining her four fellow commissioners this month to purchase the WB Equestrian facility for nearly $9.6 million.
